Have you ever felt like something or someone was holding you back from doing something great?

The way I function is I am very pro-active when it comes to things. If I know there is a situation I try to resolve it before it becomes a giant issue when everything fails. I have been forced to become re-active to these kinds of situations and not be allowed to take the proper steps to make the needed repairs. This alludes to the downtime that we had on the site Friday and Saturday. Now not everything was something I would have had full control over but I would have made the repairs and had it back up and running within a few hours.

We have rebuilt the wazee streaming network to be redundant, so that if any problems are to arise we can quickly put the backup in place and continue streaming the great music everyone loves. However there are certain portions that I have no control over. Certain portions, that I have pointed out are a source for catastrophic failure of the damn whole thing. We have been trying for 4 months to get this taken care of but our cries fall on deaf ears.

We have been running wazee since March. In that time I believe we have made great progress in rebuilding wazee into the greatness it once was. Steve, Will, Zach, and I have put great efforts into building a network of streaming servers and relays to make sure everything runs in tip top shape at all times. We have tried to fix the website so that it is better serving everyone. However, this is one of the things we have no control over. We are currently having a new website being built that will give wazee a fresh new look and try to breath some more life back into the community.

I am trying everyday to contact the person who retains control of these things. At this point however, it is looking very grim as all of our emails, phone calls, text messages, smoke signals, and telegraphs have been ignored. I am truly sorry for what I feel I am going to have to do to get the attention of the person that hold all the keys.

On November, 17th at 7PM EST, I have given my notice to terminate radio.wazee unless communication is restored and things are changed.

Website Issues

Hey everyone,

We are having issues with our domain registrar (register.com) and the DNS hosting that they provide. I have been trying to get a hold of Howard to try to change things but he is the only one with access to this. I am aware of the issue and trying to get this resolved as quick as possible.

I have become comfortably numb.

I don’t usually tell everyone about the things that I do on a daily basis, but when I am sitting at my desk working on stuff I usually have music playing of course. I am very eclectic when it comes to music, I am not set on one specific type or genre I tend to mix it up and I get in the mood for certain groups just like I’m sure everyone else does. However one thing usually stays the same for me and that is Pink Floyd. I find myself listening to The Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall when I am focused on getting a project done, most of my late night work has mostly been done to the sounds of Pink Floyd. This week I looked at the new music for the week and saw a album called The Orb w/ David Gilmour so I thought this was a must have. The album is called Metallic Spheres and features Gilmour on guitars, the cd has two tracks and I can honestly say this is one I will be adding to my late night work playlist. I know this music doesn’t really fit into our playlist but what can I say? My musical tastes go far beyond wazee’s playlist, I think everyone should at least have 1 Pink Floyd song in a playlist. You have to respect the classic artists. Take the time and enjoy your own personal journey through music.

Networking Upgrades / Wazee Playlist Changes

Well over the past several weeks we got our new firewall installed and the network all upgraded to gigabit. Now we are going to change our focus from building the network to rebuilding wazee’s playlist. I have noticed that there are quite a few songs that don’t fit in with wazee that will soon be removed and songs that should be in the playlist that are not.

So, last weekend Steve-O, Becca, and I sat down and listened to 6,000 songs (roughly 75% of the songs in the playlist currently). We then tossed out ones that did not fit into the wazee state of mind (I like that idea). So as we finish the final touches on the playlist and put them into effect please take the time to let us know if you like the changes or think we should change it back. This is the only way we know to get feedback from the listeners.

As always Wazee is a listener supported station please take the time to donate a few bucks here and there.

Comcast and Networking Upgrades

Well Comcast has upgraded our connections and we are getting some better speeds now. http://www.speedtest.net/result/930777711.png

In the last couple of weeks we have upgraded our firewall here to a sweet Dell Poweredge 2850. The old firewall was having hardware issues so I was being proactive and started building a new one, when I brought the old one into my office to take a closer look at it.. powered it up and hard drive instantly failed. EPIC FAILURE!

I am currently awaiting the payment for a job I did for a client that will allow us to buy new gigabit switches for the entire studio setup. I have been up in the air for weeks on what brand to buy and I have finally decided on getting D-Link switches so those will be ordered in the next week or so.
